When Its Mine

You know, I am more apt to care about problems when they belong to me. I take more interest in current events when they affect my life. I don't mind staying up all night with sick children when they are my own. I don't seem to be bothered by gossip and biting sarcasm when it comes out of my mouth. And I am not really offended by off key singing when I am the one who can't find the note. I never get tired of talking about trials and triumphs when I was the one victorious. And I even like looking at vacation pictures when it was my vacation. I am okay with opinions when I know I am right and I am okay with passing the buck when I know I am wrong. I don't mind hearing negative things about my family, (church or physical) as long as I am the one saying them. I am willing to fight when feelings have been hurt when they were my feelings. I will work to see that needs are met when I am the one in want. I gladly spend my time and energy on projects and programs that were my idea. But all that may change when I truly start believing that the sins He died for are MINE!!

Just a thought,
Neva

Is this about me?!? (You don't have to post this comment!) Yeah, I definitely have been thinking along these lines ever since I talked to that woman and basically told her that her thoughts weren't near as important as mine since my feelings were hurt. I hate it when I feel so righteous and then realize that when I feel that way, it's most definitely not the way I should be feeling!!

I really am kidding about it being about me!! It won't let me sign in under my name.

Wow!!! Are you trying to stomp on everyone's toes? That one hurts. But it is so true. We are all a bit self-righteous whether we are pushing for status quo or change, we all think our way is the best. Great post.

I like what anonymous said, is this about me? I think we all feel that way when you or the preacher or someone hits the nail on the head. Good post

This is piercing, Neva. These words hardly ever come together like this, but I am compelled to say, "OUCH! and Thanks."

God bless you,

I thought these were my thoughts. Add this one to your list, I can see why you spent time thinking about it, but that is just my thought.

I was disappointed. I know part of all of us is like this (self centered). But, Neva, you advocate for others. You hurt for others. You get out of yourself. Is this your way of making about you? Seriously don't be too hard on your self. God is still working on you and me.

Thank you all for the comments,

None of us have arrived and every once in awhile we all need a reminder that to be like Jesus requires selfless love. I like all of you am striving to be that. This was a reminder to me . . .and to any reader who sometimes forgets, too.
Peace,
Neva

I'm guilty...don't even need a trial. Thanks for sharing that, it was a great reminder to get outside of myself today!

Neva, you make me think. You step on my toes. And you speak from your heart. I like those things about you.

Thanks for the "when it's mine" post.
