WHY?

You know how you get occasional reports from your stat counter? I have sitemeter--I seldom go to the thing--I put it here because someone told me it was cool. And it was at first, but then I sorta forgot about it. I remember it every time I am sent the little report that tells me how many hits etc. And then I go look at it and think "this is cool". Well, I just got my report and apparently someone hacked into my sitemeter--they linked to places I don't go to. No, not porn sites or anything like that, just blogs that I have made a conscious decision not to visit and sites I had decided to avoid. I am not sure where this person is from or how they got onto my sitementer. I have it narrowed down to someone in either LaVista, NE (not sure where exactly that is) or Denver CO. Not being computer brilliant, that is far as my feeble detective work can go.
I have nothing to hide and as AW says my blog is pretty "innocuous" so why? What could a middle America, old preacher's wife possibly have that would be worth hacking into? Why?
Instead of thinking how cool this is, all I can say is "WHY?"

It's amazing the junk these people will do. If they'd devote the same time and effort to something productive, great things could be done.

Grace and peace,
Tim

Why? Because some people have no integrity. Sorry we have to deal with the jerks.

Neva,
This kind of stuff happens to a lot of people and it is dis-concerting to say the least. A lot of people do it because they can and I guess it boosts their ego or something.

I come here to read your posts because they are interesting and food for thought and it connects me to you and other Christians.
thanks for you site and postings

It is sad that so many people have so little to do.

Keep on keeping on, my sister

Why is one of the best questions that people can ask. It can also get on your nerves too. My 2 year old son constantly asking Why is the sky blue? Why is the grass green? Why do I brush my teeth? Why do I need a bath? Why? why? Why?...I am cherishing these times though because there will be a day when he becomes a teenager and thinks he will know all of the answers. Thanks for the great post Neva. I love your blog. You do a fantastic job. Keep up the great work and have wonderful day.

My concern is did your sitemeter require you give them other personal information apart from the blog's general info? If you want to see paranoia possess me, talk about identity theft. I pray your PC is well protected against further hacking and that your identity information is well protected.

But back to your blog - it is one of the finest in cyberspace, imho. The wonderful spirit-led way you bring all things of your life into a God-thing in your/our lives is such a special gift. Keep on keeping on, dear sister-in-Him! We need your voice!!!!

When I was a teenager, I would ponder this question often. Obviously, my queries had nothing to do with the Internet, though. At some point, my question changed from "Why is this happening..." to "What am I going to do about..."

Given the adverse possibilities that Kathy points out, perhaps there is a lesson in this for you.

God bless,
