VBS---Our Mission--and Random Rambling

VBS is finished! The church in Spearman, though exhausted is still on a spiritual high. We had a great turn out! Kids, kids, kids everywhere. Our them this year was "Sonforce kids" and all of the lessons centered around having a mission. We talked about Moses and Daniel and Joshua.
This is a picture of our puppet stage. Isn't it cool? One of our sisters MADE this! Really, she designed it and made it. The picture does not do it justice but it is three dimensional, there are knobs that stick out, colored windows, etc. It is very cool and my friend, Linda is very talented! She is endeared to my heart, not because she has this (and many other) talents but because she uses her talent for the Lord's work. She does not complain, does not play the martyr. There is no sighing or whining or detailing exactly how many hours, days, or weeks she puts into these projects, she just works for the Lord. And y'all, she smiles while she does it!!!!! Even during all the busyness, she makes time to call and check on others, she makes time to love on her grandkids and show her appreciation for the workers behind the scenes. I know that she is exhausted today, I know that she will rest. But, I am just as confident that when the next challenge arrives, she will smile and be ready to work for God again. Every congregation needs more Lindas!
On the sidelines---after work today, I am going to get my grandchildren---three of them, age 5, almost 3 (on Saturday) and the newborn. They will be staying with me for several days. (Mr. Neva is very nervous) James and Kathy are coming tomorrow and on Saturday we are having a birthday party for Kyle. Y'all are invited but if you can't come, please remember us in your prayers. (Ned has never had children and I--well I am an old woman and it has been a long time since I had a baby in the house)
Thanks guys, I love you all

I agree with Liz. Wow. I am glad that VBS went great. Enjoy your grandkids. Well, dah, what grandparent doesn't. :-). I know when my kids come home from seeing the grandparents they have been spoiled rotten for a week. It is maddness in the Mabry home. :-)

I don't think I will be able to make it. *grin*

But AWESOME art work. I love it when the Church utilizes members of the same body to do what they are excellent at.

I'm going to steal Linda from you. I will be praying for you and Mr. Neva. Tell Mr. Neva to stand looking in the mirror and practice smiling. That way he will be prepared for anything.

Love you 2-3-6

What a blessing! A friend and lover of Jesus in Linda and grandkids, as well as kids, on the way for a birthday party. How much more special can that be?

My grand and greats are so far away and a new great on the way in a few months, but WAAAAAY over in Honolulu. :(

Please suggest to Mr. Neva that he drop down to kid height when talking to them, but talk to them like he would an adult friend. I'm sure he'll do just great with the kids and being able to hold a newborn will be such a blessing for both of you!!!!! Green, I tell you, turning green all over with envy. ;)

Love ya'

Neva, I hope you are having a blast with those babies. And Mr. Neva, too!

VBS sounds awesome, and that backdrop/puppet stage is incredible. God has really gifted your friend, and I also love to see people using those gifts to His glory.

Blessings, friend!

Great stuff - the VBS -- and tell Mr. Neva that grandchildren are great and one of the saddest parts of the greatness of grandparents is the the parents come and take them home :) :

God Bless

Kathy, Ned followed your advise. I saw him 'visiting' with the baby in an adult conversation. The only response I saw the baby give him was that of an adult size hurl all over his shirt. Did I mention that cute and precious little one had the stinkiest diapers I have ever smelt from such a little guy - had to be something adult in that.

Neva and Ned, we had such a great time. The kids have begged us to go back and have talked nonstop about them. Josh was bragging about Remmy being his favorite dog ever and that he really liked him. I think if we don't come back sometime, the kids will take a bus to get to you. Thank you for all of the wonderful food. We look forward to returning the hospitality!
love ya,

I wish I knew Linda! We are having VBS this week. A blessed work! I'm getting to enjoy my granddaughter this week, as I have nursery duty at VBS, while her mommy teaches one of the classes. Hope you have been enjoying yours!

Your friend should hire out for VBS, our puppet stage looked like an old refrigerator box compared to this one.

I am late reading this and I am sure by now the grandkids have gone home and you and Ned have both survived and even enjoyed the experience. There is nothing in this world that measures up to the joy we get from our grandchildren, at least nothing physical.

That is great! What a talented friend you have. I know she is a blessing to the church. I know your grandchildren had fun at your house. I am assuming since the mama let the baby come that he is doing well in spite of starting off in the NICU--good to hear.
